Table toppers serve up a Christmas cracker

Match report by Ed Lynn.

Last night saw a great match between Continental Stars A and Colebridge A , the top two sides in the Birmingham Premier division.

We went 3-0 down and finished the evening with a 5-5 draw.

Ben Willson won two beating the Bertie brothers ; Lester and Steve.

Ed Lynn won two, beating both John Collymore and Steve Bertie, and a great 3-0 doubles win against the experienced Berties.

Lee Holtham was great in spells but just needs to “up” the consistency of his better periods of play. He won a couple of great ends and is understandably disappointed, but will improve.

Ben guaranteed the draw with a great fifth set win over Lester Bertie who played really well last night. A fair result.

After Josh Bleakley conceded his games last week because of illness in our match against Colebridge B ,the top of the Prem is now very close. We need a good win against Curdworth next week to go top.

A 6-4 or 7-3 win will put us joint top, 8-2 or more, a tough ask, but would put us clear top once again.
