Arguably Birmingham’s most loved and respected former coach and player, Jim Peakman, has finally completed a lifetime in table tennis by retiring from his role as League Secretary for the Midland Table Tennis League.
Jim, now well into his eighties, has held this post for over 40 years. He was also a pioneer in the use of a website for recording results and producing league tables, managing one for the Birmingham & District TTA for many years and acting as the Midland League webmaster until recently, when the League decided to take advantage of the technical wizardry of Tabletennis365.com.
In a small ceremony at his home yesterday, Jim was presented with a gift voucher on behalf of the Committee and members of the Midland League by League Hon. Treasurer, Neil Wheatley.
