Colebridge Aces commenced their first match of the 2012-13 Leamington Division 1 season with a thumping 10-0 victory against Wellesbourne yesterday evening. ( September 24th.)
The match started following a minutes silence, led by Inky Moss, in memory of Mark Read, whose tragic death was one year and one day before this fixture.
The match began with Aces team secretary, Kate Hughes , beating Gary Stewart 3-1.
This was followed by convincing wins for Sarra Wang and Ian Ferguson against John Price and Peter Dunnett (who was returning after an injury) respectively.
Sarra continued her good form with a 3-0 against Gary, demonstrating her fast paced and hard hitting game, and a 3-1 win against Peter.
Ian then showed why he was still at the top of his game, and Colebridges’ top player in the Leamington league,with 3-0 wins against both John and Gary.
Kate beat Peter and John 3-1, then teamed up with Ian for their first doubles together to win 3-0, securing the Aces first win of the season.
