Pasties On A Roll

One of the prevailing characteristics of local league table tennis is its osmotic nature.

With this gestalt in mind, it should come as no surprise that Colebridge club mates and Colebridge Tomahawks teammates Awais Muhammed and Rod Lewis should find themselves at opposite ends of the table in yesterday evenings ( November 30th) Stratford league fixture.

Awais, whose individual record in Bromsgrove is untarnished this season, won this encounter over Rod, in four ends, but it was to be his only success of the evening.

Tom Shortley beat Awais in three sets ( thereby avenging his defeat earlier in the week in a Bromsgrove League fixture ) with a typically powerful display of forehand top spinning. His relentless attacking table tennis was enough to give him the player of the match accolade, he didn’t drop a set against either Gareth Hepworth or Tim Fell.

Sam Henderson, making a welcome return to the Pastie fold, also beat Awais in a thrilling five-set match, which was as gripping as the hands of an assassin. There was much to enjoy, particularly some short touch play, quite apart from the exuberant execution of a series of forehand topspin counters away from the table.

The match score was 8-2 in Pasties favour, Shottery Bs other point coming from Gareth Hepworths well deserved win over Rod Lewis.

A most enjoyable evening, and some excellent biscuits.
