A blast from the past.

Fadi , from Colebridge to Egypt , via the pages of The Birmingham Mail.

Those Colebridge members of some years standing will , no doubt , remember Fadi Ezaddin.

Fadi was a tremendously enthusiastic and popular figure at Colebridge , who made many friends during his time as a member.

It was a pleasure then when he made contact this week with sprightly pensioner and Colebridge Development Officer Neil Wheatley, via a popular social media site , to hear of Fadis’ progress.

He has settled in Egypt , and is married with a young daughter.

As might have been expected , he has not forsaken table tennis , and is now playing for his local club , who are , so he tells us , in Egypts top league.

Those more recent members may be interested to learn that Fadi , despite finishing in first place , was banned from the individual title in Division Five of the BS&DTTA in the 2007-08 season , on the grounds that he was too good , which caused something of a furore in the local press at the time. Subsequently , his prowess was acknowledged when he was chosen as the Association’s ‘Most Improved Player of the Year’.

Fadi sends his good wishes to all at Colebridge , which we are more than happy to return , and we wish him well in his new home.

Below are some pictures of Fadi with his new club mates , and one of Fadi , when he was hitting the headlines in The Birmingham Mail .
