Braves battle.

Colebridge Braves 0 Hamstead A 10

The absence of Lee Holtham and skipper Pete Roddy, gave Braves the opportunity to give Chiefs’ young star, Sam Henderson his first taste of Premier Division action in last night’s encounter with the Division’s leaders, who decided to field a very strong team, with the formidable Carl Morgan, alongside regulars Steve Robinson and Pete Waite.

The resultant whitewash did not do justice to the home team’s spirited performance. Ben Willson proved that, despite his limited match experience, he can hold his own at this level, taking a game off Robinson and two off Waite and getting to 9 all in two of his games with Morgan. Vikas Bakshi’s quick hitting closely matched his opponent’s and he too went to 5 games with Waite. Not surprisingly, Sam got off to a nervy start, but soon warmed to his task, playing some fine rallies and achieving what his team mates could not, by taking a game off Morgan.
